Prof Anwar Hoosen
Prof Anwar Hoosen did his undergraduate and post-graduate specialist clinical microbiology training at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. He was seconded to the National Department of Health in 1996 for one year to initiate and establish the syndromic management programme for sexually transmitted infections. Thereafter, he has been the Head of Departments of Medical Microbiology at the then Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA) now called Sefako Makgatho University of Health Sciences, at the University of Pretoria & more recently at the University of the Free State.
Anwar has a special interest in genital tract infections and has published widely on sexually transmitted diseases.
