Dr Ashlin Rampul is a newly appointed Chemical Pathologist at PathCare since September 2021. He obtained his Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medical Science honors cum laude from the University of KwaZulu-Natal thereafter proceeding to his MBChB degree from the same university.

His specialist training was obtained from the University of Pretoria which was an MMED in chemical pathology followed by the FC Path (Chemical) from the colleges of medicine South Africa.

Dr Rampul has held numerous leadership positions within the clinical chemistry fraternity. He is the first South African to hold the position as a young scientist within the IFCC (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine) task force which is the global body that regulates clinical chemistry. He is also the AFCC (African Federation of Clinical Chemistry) chairperson for young scientists.

Dr Rampul has presented various talks in chemical pathology worldwide including at the IFCC COVID Conference. His research interests include diabetes, improving the lab in new dimensions (core-lab concept) and teaching registrars/scientists and technologists. He has been involved in organizing many seminars and webinars throughout the world aiding future clinical chemists. He also loves interacting with clinicians.

In his spare time, he loves to watch and play sports like cricket and soccer and hopes to make a valuable contribution to PathCare KZN team.
