Carl’s career started in 1995 as a student/casual courier with Drs Penman and Partners pathology
practice in Cape Town.  A year later, he was appointed in a permanent position and shortly thereafter
was promoted to the position of transport manager. Through part time study, he completed the
Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch in 1998. The Penman practice
then joined the Dietrich, Street and Partners pathology practice, and become part of the PathCare Group
of laboratories. Carl continued as a transport manager until mid-2000 when the department restructured.
Although a most uncertain time, Carl’s potential did not go unnoticed and in October 2000, he was the
successful applicant for a junior network technician position in the Information Technology Division. 
Carl has continued to study through PathCare, enhancing his skills as an IT technician, and he now holds
the position of Network Engineer.
