Dr Ghaalied Fakier completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2015. He worked as a Medical Officer in general surgery and emergency medicine before commencing his specialist training in Anatomical Pathology in 2020.

He completed his registrar training at Groote Schuur Hospital/UCT, successfully passing his FC Path (SA) Anatomical Pathology examinations and Master of Medicine (MMed) in Anatomical Pathology at UCT in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

He practiced as a consultant anatomical pathologist in the NHLS at Groote Schuur Hospital laboratory before joining Pathcare in 2026.

He has an interest in pancreaticobiliary pathology, hepatopathology, and gastrointestinal pathology, and enjoys all aspects of general surgical pathology.
