Dr. Olivier studied medicine at Pretoria University. She was an intern at King Edward VIII hospital in Durban and did her community service in Empangeni. She specialised as a clinical pathologist at the Tygerberg campus of Stellenbosch University. When she completed her degree, she received the Rector’s medal as the best masters student of that year. Dr. Oliver maintains an active interest in research and serves on the Pathcare Research Committee
