2x twelve-month contract opportunities exist for a Data Analysts at our N1 City branch in Cape Town, who is passionate about healthcare and creating valuable insights from complex datasets.
The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and accessibility of our extensive data, supporting everything from clinical operations to strategic planning.
Key Competency Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python or R) for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and data discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to clearly explain complex data concepts.
- Previous exposure to or knowledge of the healthcare, medical, or pathology sector.
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview).
- Understanding of data modelling concepts (e.g., Kimball methodology).
- Possess a natural curiosity and enjoy the thrill of investigating data discrepancies and anomalies (you are a Data Detective!).
- Meticulous and have a strong commitment to producing high-quality, reliable work.
- A proactive learner who is eager to embrace new technologies and data methodologies.
- An effective communicator who can translate complex technical findings into clear, non-technical insights for clinical and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Data quality analysis: Performing routine checks and developing processes to monitor and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of laboratory and patient data.
- Data warehouse maintenance: Assisting with the upkeep, optimisation, and documentation of our central data warehouse.
- Data engineering support: Collaborating on tasks related to extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from source systems into the data warehouse, and developing basic data pipelines.
- Statistical analysis: Conducting basic statistical analyses on large datasets to identify trends, performance metrics, and actionable insights relevant to pathology operations and disease patterns.
- Reporting: Creating and maintaining dashboards and reports to visualise insights for our stakeholders.
