An opportunity exists for an Experienced Medical Technologist/Laboratory Scientist to join the team at our Louis Leipoldt branch in Cape Town. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of displaying Clinical competence and who has a high level of ethics and integrity while consistently aligning with the PathCare values.
Key Competency Requirements
- 3-year Biomedical Technology diploma or 4-year Medical Laboratory Scientist degree in Clinical Pathology
- Current registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Pathology
- Computer literate with Meditech knowledge
- Knowledge/understanding of Material Management system
- 3-5 years’ Clinical experience post HPCSA registration
- Experience in technical procedure development and implementation
- Experience in QC review process and experience in maintaining QC systems including SANAS audits
- Experience in Materials Management
- Experience on Abbott Alinity, Sysmex FBC XN analyser, Siemens 600 series
- Experience with troubleshooting instruments
- Point of care experience will be advantageous
- Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations & collaborative skills
- Excellent attention to detail

Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Pathologists, Zone Manager and Senior Technologist in their pursuit to provide patient excellence
- Model, align to and drive the PathCare values thereby contributing to a purpose- driven CARE values- based environment
- Perform advanced maintenance, housekeeping and troubleshooting of technical problems
- Manage reagents and equipment
- Stock management- Syspro experience and effective stock management with efficiency studies
- Act as QC officer- experience in Exception report reviews, Proficiency testing and Uncertainty of Measurement reviews
- Be involved in Trend analysis in context of ISO 15189
Please note that all the shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a technical proficiency test to assess their level of competence.
