PathCare is a partnership of pathologists in private practice across South Africa that has been assisting doctors and healthcare professionals determine and confirm diagnoses since 1923. We are registered with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and all our laboratories are SANAS accredited.

An opportunity exists for a Night Duty Experienced Medical Technologist/Laboratory Scientist to join the team at our Vincent Pallotti branch in Cape Town. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of displaying Clinical competence and who has a high level of ethics and integrity while consistently aligning with the PathCare values.

Key Competency Requirements

  • 3-year Biomedical Technology diploma/4-year Medical Laboratory Scientist degree or Medical Technician Certificate in Clinical Pathology
  • Current registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Pathology
  • Computer literate with Meditech knowledge
  • Knowledge/understanding of Pathcare systems, including Material Management system
  • 3-5 years’ Clinical experience post HPCSA registration
  • Previous night duty experience is advantageous
  • Experience in advanced technical instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience in maintaining QA Systems (e.g., SOP’s, document control, instrument logs)
  • Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations
  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Effective verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

Please note that all the shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a technical proficiency assessment to assess their level of competence.
